About Hornby Lake
Our outpost on Hornby Lake is 100 miles north of Red Lake. Hornby Lake is a moderately sized lake with many bays, islands, and fantastic scenery. Fishing in this unspoiled lake is superb, with great numbers of both walleye and northern pike, including its fair share of trophy sized fish. We are the only tourist outfitter on the lake.
Due to superb trophy angling, Hornby Lake is typically fully-booked a year in advance, but a wait list is available.
The Fishing
Fishing typically consists of mid-lake reefs and structure for walleye. Shallow weedy points and hidden inlets hold trophy class northern pike, similar to other locations. The several creeks and streams make for spectacular early season opportunities. Trophy northern pike and walleye are not uncommon at this location.
We have a strict catch and release policy for trophies, ensuring world class fishing for many generations to come.
The Cabin
Constructed on site, from local pine logs, the cabin provides two (2) bedrooms accommodating up to six (6) people, and features solar powered 120V lights and electricity. The cabin is very well equipped with a propane range, fridge, freezer, mattresses, and three-piece bathrooms (urinal, sink and shower), and complete with hot and cold running water. A charcoal barbecue on the deck is also included.

Hornby Lake Outpost operates on weekly reservations running from Monday Departure times are between 6:30 – 8:30 am CST. Please confirm at least 24 hours prior to scheduled departure.

- † Each person is permitted 150lbs of baggage. Additional weight will be charged at $2.50/lb, and is strictly enforced for Hornby Lake Outpost.
- ‡ Superior Airways Limited provides exclusive travel to all Chimo Lodge and Outpost locations. Their main float base is located at 68-Howey Street, Red Lake, ON.
Schultz Lake was the most memorable. We portaged into one of the 2 portage lakes, and in a manner of 4 hours I personally had 35 walleyes – smallest was 22″ and largest was 30″
